When Hurricane Michael struck the Panhandle much more than 2 a long time in the past, Marianna took a direct strike. Downtown was in shambles immediately after the catastrophic winds and torrential rains crumbled brick structures like Legos.
Danny Lipford, who grew up in Marianna and is a dwelling advancement skilled, is bringing new lifestyle to Lafayette Street in Marianna with what he phone calls a “pocket park,” which will be identified as Lafayette Landing. The park will be sandwiched between two buildings that have been repaired right after Michael, found at 4448 Lafayette Street.
Lipford is the host of the nationwide television present “Present day Home-owner,” now in its 23rd season. There will be two episodes airing in early 2021 showcasing this job.
“It is refreshing to have a thing beneficial to concentrate on and celebrate, primarily for the duration of a calendar year that has been hard for us all,” Lipford stated in a statement.
The park brings the group a little party space with seating, lights, a phase, landscaping and extra.
Development will begin Saturday, Dec. 5 and stop on Thursday, Dec. 10. Much more than 100 volunteers and town leaders will be concerned in the neighborhood project. College students attending Chipola University and Jackson County high educational facilities have previously started building wooden planters, picnic tables and benches that will be mounted in the park.
A ribbon-slicing ceremony will be held Thursday, Dec. 10 from 3:30 – 6:30 pm.
