NEW YORK – The New York Philharmonic will return to Geffen Hall soon after a $550 million renovation on Oct. 7 with a concert led by songs director Jaap van Zweden prior to an invited audience to thank health care, crisis and construction staff.
The method prospects off what the orchestra calls a “Home” festival, the Philharmonic explained Monday. The live performance will feature Aaron Copland’s “Fanfare for the Prevalent Man” the New York premiere of a new get the job done by Carlos Simon “Juba” from Forence Price’s Symphony No. 4 the overture to Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” and the allegro from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5.

The rebuilt corridor will have a capability of beneath 2,200, down from 2,738, with the rows in the orchestra slash from 43 to 33, and the stage moved forward 25 toes, enabling seven rows of wraparound seating powering the orchestra. About two-thirds of the 3rd tier will be eradicated.
Live shows will be streamed for free in the foyer on a 50-foot-very long Digital Wall, and the corridor will contain a new modest Sidewalk Studio.
